With a fifth Indiana Jones movie now confirmed, don’t expect that to be the last we’ll see of Dr. Henry Walton Jones Jr.

Disney CEO Bob Iger spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about whether there were plans to expand the Indy world with sequels, prequels or spin-offs in a way similar to Star Wars, with Iger noting, “Not like Star Wars, but we hope… right now, we’re focused on a reboot, or a continuum and then a reboot of some sort. Well, we’ll bring him back, then we have to figure out what comes next. That’s what I mean. It’s not really a reboot, it’s a boot – a reboot. I don’t know. We’ve got Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in the film, but then what’s the direction? I’ve had discussions about what the direction is. I don’t want to get into it. I don’t think it reaches the scale of the universe of Star Wars, but I see making more. It won’t just be a one-off.”

Harrison Ford has been long-confirmed to reprise the Indy role for the upcoming fifth movie, but it remains to be seen whether the iconic actor will be back for any further films or whether it may be the case of the franchise going in a different direction. Either way, it seems that we’ll be getting more than just this fifth Indiana Jones movie.

With Steven Spielberg back to direct, the current plan is for Indy 5 to hit cinemas on July 19th, 2019.
