Telltale Games, the company famous for reinventing various franchises such as The Walking Dead and Borderlands in their unique way, have released a trailer for their upcoming series, Minecraft: Story Mode. The game was announced in December 2014, and a full trailer (likely limiting itself to Episode 1) was shown at Minecon.

Check out the trailer below:

Minecraft: Story Mode boasts a star-studded cast. The main protagonist (and the person being controlled by the player,) is called Jesse and will be voiced by actor Patton Oswalt. Other confirmed voices include Ashley Johnson (The Last of Us, Tales From the Borderlands), Martha Plimpton and Corey Feldmen (both from The Goonies), Billy West (Futurama,) and Dave Fennoy (Telltale’s Walking Dead.)

The trailer has come out to noticeably mixed reviews. Many people feel this is a step away from Telltale’s regular territory, with others citing clunky animation and other errors (Jesse somehow makes an iron sword out of cobblestone.) On Youtube, the like to dislike ratio is quite even, with only a few thousand more likes than dislikes. We’ll have to see if the game succeeds after its release, anticipated to be later this year.
