After several weeks of speculation, The Hollywood Reporter has word that Michelle MacLaren has been given the nod to direct Warner Brothers’ Gal Gadot-starring WONDER WOMAN. Whilst she may not be particularly known for her work in movies, MacLaren has produced and directed some well-received episodes of the likes of THE WALKING DEAD, GAME OF THRONES and BREAKING BAD. She’ll be developing WONDER WOMAN along with Charles Roven and Zack and Deborah Snyder.

Whilst officially just one movie at this point, it has been rumoured that the character of Wonder Woman will actually get her own trilogy of films, with the first taking place in the 1920s and focusing on Themyscira’s first encounter with the outside world. After that, a second film would be set in the 1940s against a World War II backdrop, before a third film would bring the action to a more contemporary setting. The whole trilogy idea is merely a rumour at this stage, though.

WONDER WOMAN will be released on June 23rd, 2017, although Diana will make her DCCU debut in BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, which will hit screens on March 25th, 2016.
