It was revealed last month that Warner Brothers were looking for a female director to helm the Gal Gadot-starring WONDER WOMAN, with PUNISHER: WAR ZONE’s Lexi Alexander and ZERO DARK THIRTY’s Kathryn Bigelow just two of the names speculated for the gig. Now come some news on which director The WB have in mind.

Variety is reporting that Michelle MacLaren is Warners’ current first choice to direct the superheroine movie. Whilst she may not be particularly known for her work in movies, MacLaren has produced and directed some well-received episodes of the likes of THE WALKING DEAD, GAME OF THRONES and BREAKING BAD. Additionally, this week has also seen Lexi Alexander confirm that she has had no form of talks whatsoever with Warner Brothers about the film, although she did tease that she knew who the studio had lined up for the WONDER WOMAN gig.

WONDER WOMAN is currently set for a June 23rd, 2017 release, with the character first appearing in Zack Snyder’s BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE on March 25th, 2016.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
