Well this is all kinds of cool. As per Variety, Michael Keaton is in talks to play the villain of Disney’s upcoming live-action take on Dumbo.

Tim Burton is already on board to direct the film, meaning this would be a reunion of sorts for the director and star of Batman and Batman Returns.

In the original tale, Dumbo centres on a poor baby circus elephant who is desperate to reach his full potential. The villain of the piece is the new owner of the circus who has plans to exploit both Dumbo and his mother.

Danny DeVito is on board as the original circus owner, with Keaton’s role seemingly to be that of the nefarious no-good sort who picks up the circus from DeVito. Also on board is Eva Green.

Following the likes of Maleficent, Cinderella, The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo is one of several upcoming live-action remakes of classic Disney pictures, with The Lion King and The Little Mermaid also on the way.
