We recently brought you the news that David Bowie is currently co-writing a theatre production based on Nicolas Roeg’s dreamy sci-fi film The Man Who Fell to Earth, alongside Tony Award winner Edna Walsh. Now comes word from The Hollywood Reporter that the show has found its star in Michael C. Hall.

No stranger to the stage, Hall has played a variety of roles including the titular trans-punk rocker in the cult production Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Rising to fame in the morbidly comic drama Six Feet Under and courting even wider appeal in the bloody antics of Dexter, Hall is set to chalk up another exciting role in his already bolstering back catalogue.

Bowie, who starred as Thomas Jerome Newton in the 1976 movie, is penning several new songs alongside rejigged classics for the production. Titled Lazarus, it’s set to open later this year, although Bowie himself won’t be appearing in the play.
