For those disappointed that Transformers 5 is actually happening, you’ll be even more disappointed to hear that Michael Bay will again be directing.

A fifth Transformers movie has been long-confirmed, but Bay’s involvement was up in the air. He was always going to be involved in some way, although he’d previously said he was unsure on whether he’d actually direct this next installment. Well, he’s now confirmed he will be directing this upcoming Robots in Disguise adventure.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Bay confirmed, “I’m doing Transformers… 5, is it? J.J. told me, ‘You’re the only guy who could do this.’ But it’s time to move on. One more.”

All we know about Transformers 5 at this time is that Mark Wahlberg will be back. Given how the last effort in the series, Age of Extinction, played the Dinobots card, it’ll be interesting to see what new additions this new movie will make.

At present, Transformers 5 is set to arrive in 2017.
