While it seems as if the Men in Black and Jump Street crossover movie is now dead in the water, this weekend brings word that Sony Pictures is in development on a new Men in Black spin-off film.

As per Deadline, the picture won’t feature Will Smith or Tommy Lee Jones, and it will instead look to delve further into the world shown in the original trilogy of movies. Matt Holloway and Art Marcum have been brought in on writing duties, with Sony having already booked in a May 17th, 2019 release that will see the picture open opposite John Wick: Chapter Three.

If you remember, the last we’d heard about anything to do with Men in Black was when the crossover with the Jump Street franchise was labelled too complicated to put together by Jonah Hill last year. Reportedly, that crossover – at the time dubbed MIB 23 – is still in tentative development at Sony, though.

As ever, expect more on all things Men in Black as we get it.
