Upcoming horror comedy The Happytime Murders has founds it star.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Melissa McCarthy has signed on to headline the upcoming puppet-driven effort from director Brian Henson. The actress will also serve as a producer through her On the Day Productions banner with husband Ben Falcone. This particular project has been rumbling away at The Jim Henson Co. since way back in 2008, although it was only finally picked up by STX last year.

Plot-wise, the movie takes place in a world where humans and puppets coexist, although the puppets are looked at by many as second-class citizens. When the cast of 1980s kids show “The Happytime Gang” wind up dead, a grizzled and disgraced LAPD detective puppet ends up teaming with his human former partner to try and get to the bottom of this mystery.
