After plenty of recent speculation, it’s being reported by The Hollywood Reporter that Melissa McCarthy has finally entered talks to appear in the GHOSTBUSTERS reboot.

The all-female relaunch is to be directed by Paul Feig, who has worked with McCarthy on BRIDESMAIDS, THE HEAT and is set to work with her again on his upcoming SPY, so it was always likely that the actress would be up for a role in the film. McCarthy’s involvement is currently being described as far from a done deal, but talks have begun about getting her on board for the redo. One sticking point seems to be McCarthy’s commitments to MIKE & MOLLY and MICHELLE DARNELL, with GHOSTBUSTERS currently planning to start shooting in June.

Despite plenty of rumours, the only concrete news that had come out previously was Rebel Wilson revealing she’d had talks for a role in the film. At this stage, though, it’s believed that Wilson is no longer up for a part.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
