In what could be deemed a spoiler of sorts, a certain Marvel Cinematic Universe character has been confirmed to appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

As Captain America: Civil War gets set to hit cinemas, and with speculation over which MCU heroes may not make it out of the movie alive, Sony Pictures has officially announced a certain name for Homecoming.

So, with that said, there are potentially spoilers ahead. You’ve been warned…

SPOILERS

Sony has revealed that Robert Downey Jr. will be appearing in Spider-Man: Homecoming, suggesting that Tony Stark makes it out of Civil War in one piece. During Civil War, we already know that Stark will at one stage have Tom Holland’s Spidey as part of #TeamIronMan (because what’s a team without a hashtag, right?). It looks as if this relationship will be further fleshed out in Homecoming, and previous reports even suggested that the Wallcrawler will actually battle the Armoured Avenger during this new Spider-Man movie.

Downey Jr. joins a cast that includes Holland’s Peter Parker, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Zendaya as a female lead known as Michelle, and Laura Harrier and Tony Revolori.

To be directed by Cop Car’s Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Homecoming is set for a July 7th, 2017 release.
