With Kingsman: The Secret Service now available on DVD and Blu-ray, it appears that a sequel is now officially in the works.

It was only in April that we first heard rumours of a possible sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s movie, and now Vaughn himself has confirmed that he’s already working on a follow-up.

Speaking to Yahoo, he revealed, “Well, the good news is that I’m writing it next door at the moment. If I think I can get the script good enough, then we are making it. We are doing our damndest to make that happen.”

As well as penning the sequel, it looks as if there’s also a chance that Vaughn could end up directing, with him adding, “I’m in love with these characters and I want to work with them again so I’ll probably be breaking the rule of me tending not to make sequels.”

The first Kingsman movie took an impressive $400 million globally during its cinematic run, and also received a whole host of praise from fans and critics alike.

Early plot rumours for this sequel suggest an American spy may be brought into the mix in a major way, although that’s all we really know at this point.

Up next for Vaughn is the redo of Flash Gordon.
