Having recently brought in Iwan Rheon as Maximus, Marvel’s The Inhumans has now added two more names to its cast.

First up is Hell on Wheels’ Anson Mount, who’s landed the lead role of Black Bolt, the king of the Inhumans and the head of the royal family. One of the biggest powers of this charismatic, enigmatic figure is that a mere whisper from him can destroy an entire city, so powerful is his voice.

On this addition, Marvel’s Jeph Loeb said, “Anson loves the challenge of playing a character who will only communicate silently. His enthusiasm mixed with his imposing almost regal persona made it easy to see why he is our Black Bolt.”

Showrunner Scott Buck added, “Black Bolt is a character whose deep complexity must be conveyed without uttering a single word, and I’m very excited to have Anson on board to bring him to life.”

As well as Anson Mount, The Inhumans has also cast Graceland and TRON: Legacy’s Serinda Swan – who interestingly played Zatanna in Smallville – as Black Bolt’s queen, Medusa. In the comic book world, Medusa’s main ability is that she can control her hair with the same accuracy and precision as others have with their fingers.

On the casting of Swan, Jeph Loeb enthused, “Serinda empowers Medusa’s regal glory and still maintain a relatability that synced perfectly with the character. She is nothing short of wonderful.”

Scott Buck added, “Serinda Swan brings a regal elegance, as well as a sense of great inner strength and fierce determination, to the role of Medusa. I couldn’t be happier to have her as our Queen of Attilan.”

The Inhumans as a group have been around in the comic book realm since 1965. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the alien race all have their own unique powers. In more recent decades, their popularity and prominence in the Marvel Comics world has grown massively.

Where Marvel’s The Inhumans is concerned, the series is a unique beast in the way that its two-part pilot will have a two-week run in IMAX cinemas in September before heading to ABC for the rest of its episodes.
