With the four heroes now in place, Marvel’s Netflix-exclusive The Defenders is finally coming together. So much so that Charlie Cox, who plays Daredevil, has confirmed the series will start production later this year.

Speaking at a Netflix event in Paris, Cox revealed, “What we do know is at the end of this year we’re going to be making The Defenders and, of course, Daredevil is very much a part of that foursome. I have no idea what the storyline is going to be for that show. I’m very excited to see how those world’s combine… and interested to see tonally how those shows become one.”

The Defenders team itself will consist of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. Cox’s Daredevil currently has his second season available on Netflix, whilst Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones hit the on-demand service late last year. In Marvel’s Jessica Jones, we also got to see Mike Colter debut as Luke Cage. His own solo series will be arriving this September, and now Finn Jones has been brought on board to headline Marvel’s Iron Fist when that arrives in late 2017. Additionally, the Ritter-starring Jessica Jones has also been confirmed for a second season that will drop on Netflix in the first half of 2017.

At present, Marvel’s The Defenders has yet to be given a premiere date or to have a showrunner announced.
