With Marvel’s Inhumans now finally confirmed to be happening, the upcoming series has moved to bring in its first cast member.

Marvel has announced Iwan Rheon, best known for playing utter bastard (in every sense of the word) Ramsay Bolton in Game of Thrones, will be playing the role of Maximus in the show. That character has the power of mind control and is the brother of the Inhuman King, Black Bolt. In the comic book realm, Maximus is extremely devoted to the Attilan people and his brother, although he still has a desire to one day wear the crown as his own.

On this news, Marvel’s Jeph Loeb said, “Iwan’s ability to be charming, roguish and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life. We’re thrilled to have him on board.”

Showrunner Scott Buck added, “Maximus is a complex character. Likable, charming, tragic and villainous all in the same moment, and I’m very excited to have someone of Iwan’s considerable talent.”

The Inhumans as a group have been around in the comic book realm since 1965. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the alien race all have their own unique powers. In more recent decades, their popularity and prominence in the Marvel Comics world has grown massively.

Where Marvel’s The Inhumans is concerned, the series is a unique beast in the way that its two-part pilot will have a two-week run in IMAX cinemas in September before heading to ABC for the rest of its episodes.
