Given how Marvel Studios and Disney have been rumoured to be introducing new heroes into their upcoming schedule, which happens to run right up until 2020, this latest story comes as a little bit of a surprise. According to Devan Faraci of BadassDigest, usually a reliable source and speaking on the Meet The Movie Press Podcast, it appears that, starting with DOCTOR STRANGE, Marvel Studios will be going head-long into their characters’ story, forgoing the usual origin story formula that we often see.

Faraci claimed, “Marvel’s new thing is no more origin stories. So Doctor Strange’s movie no longer has an origin. It begins in media res . It’s got Doctor Strange already established as the Sorcerer Supreme. It’s a totally new script, without any of the previous stuff. They’re not even touching the previous script.”

That previous script that Faraci mentions is one that seemingly leaked to online sources, such as Latino Review, earlier this year and that was an origin story for the Master of the Mystic Arts.

With the likes of Black Panther, Ms. Marvel, and The Inhumans all rumoured to be entering the MCU over the next few years, it’ll be interesting to see how Marvel Studios manages these characters if we’re just getting introduced to them after they’ve been doing the whole hero thing for a while.

It goes without saying, but treat all of this as purely rumour for now. Additionally, it’s believed that Scott Derrickson’s DOCTOR STRANGE will be released on 8thJuly, 2016.
