It was only yesterday morning that we brought word that BREAKING BAD’s Krysten Ritter was being lined up to headline Marvel’s JESSICA JONES series. Now comes official confirmation of the casting, as well as a short synopsis for the show.

The synopsis reads:

“After a tragic ending to her short-lived superhero stint, Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City.”

Executive producer and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg said, “Krysten brings both the hard edge and the vulnerability the role demands. We can’t wait for fans to see her in action, coming to Netflix in 2015.”

Marvel’s Jeph Loeb added, “Krysten Ritter has the type of range, spanning the comic to the tragic, that makes for the stuff of the best Marvel heroes. As Jessica Jones, Krysten will bring one of the most beloved new characters of the past decade to life in a way we know will delight her long-time fans and introduce her to many more.”

Additionally, it appears that the show is now going by the name A.K.A. JESSICA JONES.

One of five upcoming Netflix-exclusive Marvel shows (along with DAREDEVIL, LUKE CAGE, IRON FIST and eventually THE DEFENDERS), A.K.A. JESSICA JONES will get a 13-episode run next year once the Charlie Cox-starring DAREDEVIL has finished.
