With Jared Leto recently rumoured to be playing The Joker in Warner Brothers’ SUICIDE SQUAD, now comes a report that says Mr J’s main squeeze may have already been cast. Even before Warners announced that David Ayer will be helming the film, it was said that offers had been made to Tom Hardy, Will Smith, Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie to join the villain-centric effort. Collider is now reporting that Robbie is indeed on board and will be playing Harley Quinn. Bar Starburst Shauna’s personal favourite NEIGHBOURS, Robbie is best known to most for an impressive turn in THE WOLF OF WALL STREET.

Whilst the Suicide Squad has been around for decades in the comic book world, Harley has been a staple of the group since DC’s New 52 relaunch back in 2011. This cinematic version of the team was originally said to consist of Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Blockbuster, Multiplex, Mindboggler, Vixen and Jaculi. That was the initial plan, but Ayer is in the middle of reworking the script; a rework that is supposedly going to include both Harley and her puddin’ in the movie.

Given how it seems highly likely that the Clown Prince of Crime will be appearing in SUICIDE SQUAD, a film based on a group who he has had very little to do with in the comic book world, then the inclusion of Harley Quinn would be the perfect plot point to bring The Joker’s presence into the fold.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.

At present, SUICIDE SQUAD is set for an August 5th, 2016 release.
