It’s been previously reported that Warner Brothers had plans for a Harley Quinn movie down the line, and now comes an update on that front.

The Hollywood Reporter has word that Margot Robbie has signed a ‘first look’ deal with the studio that will see her develop and produce projects for The WB. And you guessed it, one such project is indeed a Harley Quinn movie. As part of this new deal, Robbie will be co-producing the Quinn-led picture through her LuckyChap Entertainment banner as well as starring in it.

Whilst Robbie’s Harleen Quinzel will indeed be returning for another outing, the exact details remain a little hush-hush at this stage. Previous reports suggested that the film wouldn’t be a straight-up solo Harley Quinn effort, instead it’d bring in more female characters such as Batgirl, Black Canary, Huntress and possibly Karen Fukuhara’s Katana. It’s believed that Robbie became hugely interested in DC’s female characters when doing some research for her Harley turn in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. As such, it was the actress herself who brought up the notion of doing a movie consisting of several strong female DC characters.

Expect more on this as it develops.
