Kevin Smith’s Mallrats sequel has now been given an official title. From this day forward, Mallrats 2 is no more. From this day forward, the sequel will be known as Mallbrats.

Smith revealed the news on Twitter, saying, “It’s mall or nothing! 20 years in the making. 113 pages fulla old friends, new jokes and a bloody battle with Stan Lee! This is for you, Jim. Wish you were here. #MallBrats”

The Jim that Smith refers to is Jim Jacks, producer of Mallrats and one who regularly championed a sequel. Jacks sadly passed away last year.

The title of MallBrats suggests that we may see a new generation of mall surfers, but fans of the original film will be pleased to know the gaggle of names returning for the sequel. At present, the cast of this sequel is made up of Jason Lee’s Brodie Bruce, Shannen Doherty’s Rene Mosier, Jeremy London as T.S. Quint, Claire Forlani as Brandi Svenning, Michael Rooker as Jared Svenning, Joey Lauren Adams as Gwen, Renee Humphrey as Trish “The Dish” Jones (although apparently nobody calls her that), Ethan Suplee as Willam, Sven-Ole Thorsen as LaFours, Bryan Johnson as Steve-Dave, Walt Flanagan as Fanboy, Brian O’Halloran as Gill Hicks, Stan Lee as himself, Jason Mewes as Jay, and Smith himself as Silent Bob.

Whilst we’re uber excited for this Mallrats sequel, up next for Smith is Yoga Hosers, the second of the director’s True North trilogy. After that, it seems that he’ll be moving on to MallBrats.
