With Halloween rapidly approaching, it’s that time of the year where it’s always good to throw on a few scary movies and revisit films and franchises of yesteryear. Of course, a particular favourite of the genre and of us at STARBURST HQ is John Carpenter’s iconic HALLOWEEN. Not content with merely ‘the night he came home,’ the series has spawned ten movies to date and has another one in development. And on the topic of the next HALLOWEEN movie, producer Malek Akkad has recently given an update on where things currently stand.

Speaking at a recent press conference, as reported by ShockTillYouDrop, Akkad teased, “It’s been a joy to work with so many creative people – ten films. We’re working on eleven as we speak. We’re working on a script right now. A new draft – perfect timing – is supposed to hit the day before Halloween. Hopefully my Halloween night reading will be a good read.”

In terms of plot, it’s believed that this next movie will simply be called HALLOWEEN 3 and will be a continuation of the world established in Rob Zombie’s two HALLOWEEN movies, which essentially rebooted the franchise. Zombie himself has already ruled out a return, although star Scout Taylor-Compton will be returning as Laurie Strode to headline the film.

With the last HALLOWEEN movie, Zombie’s HALLOWEEN II, released back in 2009, is it about time for The Shape to terrorise Haddonfield once more or are you happy for Michael to continue to lay dormant for now?

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
