With yesterday bringing the news that director F. Javier Gutierrez has departed THE CROW, now comes word that star Luke Evans may not be a part of the reboot if and when it does happen.

When asked by Den of Geek as to whether the redo was still something that’s lined up for him, he responded, “It’s not, no. No, at the minute THE CROW is not, not for me, I think it’s a little… I mean I’m sure it’s going to go ahead at some point, but I have other projects that are greenlit and ready to go and projects that I’ve very interested in and, you know, I can’t wait much longer.”

Now the part about not being able to wait much longer was supposedly send in a humourous way, but it appears this THE CROW is in danger of losing its star if it doesn’t pull its finger out soon. Evans received a generally positive response to his turn in DRACULA UNTOLD, with him possibly reprising that role in the shared monster universe that Universal is looking to create. Additionally, he also shone in THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG and will play a pivotal role in the upcoming THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES.

With Gutierrez now off THE CROW, Corin Hardy will be directing the redo, with a spring 2015 start date currently planned.
