Over the last fortnight or so, it seems that barely a day goes by when one of Marvel’s Netflix-exclusive shows doesn’t add to its cast.

With that said, today brings word, courtesy of Deadline, that Luke Cage has brought in Under the Dome’s (and famously-yet-briefly Pulp Fiction’s) Frank Whaley as Detective Rafael Scarfe. A character directly from the comic book realm, Scarfe was created by Chris Claremont and Pat Broderick way back in 1975’s Marvel Premiere #23. “Rafe” Scarfe was at one point an NYPD partner of Misty Knight and has helped Cage at numerous times over the years.

Taking the titular role in Luke Cage is Mike Colter, with Alfre Woodard cast as the show’s big bad, Black Mariah. Theo Rossi is also on board to play the villainous Shades, Mahershala Ali is signed on to play rogue Cornell Cottonmouth, and Simone Missick is confirmed in the role of Missy, the show’s take on the aforementioned Misty Knight.

The Cage character will debut early next year in the Krysten Ritter-headlined Jessica Jones before then having his own show arrive in the second half of 2016.
