Despite receiving a hugely mixed response, Netflix is powering forward with a sequel to 2017’s Bright.
Courtesy of Deadline, the streaming service is in talks with Louis Leterrier to direct the picture. Leterrier is likely best known to genre fans for helming the Ed Norton-starring The Incredible Hulk and all ten episodes of the stunning The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.
Bright was a most unique of movies for Netflix. While the 11 million households that viewed the film in its first three days of release helped to make it the most watched first-week movie in Netflix’s history, many of those same people slammed Bright for being terrible.
Still, the sheer number of eyes watching that picture always suggested that Netflix could be tempted to serve up a sequel offering. And now, that is indeed the case.
For those of you not familiar with Bright, that fantasy movie centred on Will Smith’s LAPD officer and his new orc partner, as played by Joel Edgerton.
Expect more on Bright 2 as it continues to develop.
