Amidst the comic book-based TV shows in development or on screens, the tail end of last year brought news that FOX was looking to bring some variation of the X-Men to the small screen. Now comes an update of sorts, with all apparently looking to move ahead on the show.

Speaking to TV Insider about how the network is just waiting for approval from Marvel Entertainment, FOX’s Gary Newman revealed, “It’s in negotiations. We’re cautiously optimistic, we had a good meeting with them. That will not be on a fast track creatively. This is just the deal, now we have to find the creative.”

Additionally, it’s believed that the series wouldn’t be ready to air until the 2016/17 season run of television. Also, talks are said to be on-going with 24’s Evan Katz and Manny Coto to develop the live-action X-Men show. Patrick McKay and JD Payne will be penning the pilot and serving as showrunners on the series.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
