This year’s San Diego Comic-Con was the stage where The CW chose to reveal that Ra’s al Ghul will be appearing in the upcoming third season of ARROW. Footage gave fans a look at the Demon Head’s garb but stopped short of showing his face. The role has yet to be cast, although Liam Neeson, who played the character in Christopher Nolan’s Batman universe, says he’s open to taking on the job.

When asked by MTV whether he had been approached to reprise the Ra’s gig, the actor responded, “No, I haven’t, I haven’t at all. I would, in a heartbeat, if it came my way, yeah, very much so.”

Neeson then chimed in with some advice for whoever does end up playing the character, saying, “They have to believe in their philosophy. Ra’s al Ghul absolutely believed what he was doing was ultimately saving civilisation, and it was quite a good argument he comes up with. Throughout the ages this fraternity, that brought the plague to wipe out a section of mankind because it needed ot be regenerated again. Very dangerous, but you have to believe it.”

The chances of Neeson playing al Ghul once more seem slim at best, not least because it would confuse casual fans who would see it as a tie to the cinematic world that Nolan had created, which itself is a world that exists as a separate entity to Warner Brothers’ current DC cinematic realm.

As Season 3 of ARROW is already shooting, we’d expect an announcement to come over the next few weeks as to just who will be playing the Demon’s Head in the show.
