With Transformers: The Last Knight currently in production, the film has brought in Once Upon a Time’s Liam Garrigan. What’s more interesting, though, is the role that Garrigan has landed.

Mashable is reporting that Garrigan, who is famous for playing King Arthur in the aforementioned Once Upon a Time, will bizarrely be playing King Arthur in the new Transformers movie. Additionally, King Arthur will be joined in the film by Merlin, with certain stories suggesting that Santiago Cabrera’s unknown role in the film could well be that of the magician. How these characters tie in to the battles between Autobots and Decepticons remains to be seen, but it could well be that the film will go back in time at certain points, and this certainly puts a new spin on the whole The Last Knight subtitle of the film.

Already confirmed for the movie are Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Isabela Moner, Jerrod Carmichael, Laura Haddock, and Sir Anthony Hopkins. On the Robots-in-Disguise front, the film will feature Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Drift, Megatron, Barricade, Onslaught, and newcomers in the shape of Sqweeks and longtime fan-favourite Rodimus Prime.

To be once more directed by Michael Bay, Transformers: The Last Knight is currently set for a June 23rd, 2017 release.
