It’s already been revealed that the second season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will be featuring the Justice Society of America, and now comes word on who will be playing the show’s take on the JSA’s Stargirl.

IGN has word that Sarah Grey, likely best known to genre fans for playing the younger, flashback version of Norma Bates in Bates Motel, has landed the gig of Courtney Whitmore, aka Stargirl. In the comic book realm, the character gains her superpowers after inheriting the Cosmic Staff from Starman. Those aforementioned powers involve the usual mixture of enhanced strength, speed and agility, plus the ability of flight, energy manipulation, and being able to project shooting stars. This won’t be the first time that Stargirl has been seen in live-action, however, with Britt Irvin having played the character in Smallville.

Grey’s Courtney Whitmore joins a JSA team that will also include Matthew MacCaull’s Commander Steel, Patrick J. Adams’ Hourman, and the yet-to-be-cast Dr. Mid-Nite and Obsidian.

Season 2 of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, which will see Rip Hunter’s Legends and the JSA battling the Legion of Doom (Damien Darhk, Malcolm Merlyn, Reverse-Flash, and Captain Cold), will debut in the US on October 13th, with a UK premiere following shortly after that date.
