With the next installment of the Texas Chain Saw Massacre franchise – simply titled Leatherface – deep in production, we now have an idea of when to expect this next outing for a true horror icon.

This new film will serve as a prequel, looking at the younger days of Leatherface. Where a release date is concerned, Leatherface producer Christa Campbell took to her Twitted page to reveal that this eighth film in the series will be hitting the big screen this coming October.

To be directed by Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, Leatherface has already finished shooting, and the official synopsis for the film reads:

Jessica Madsen plays one of four inmates (Sam Coleman, Sam Strike, James Bloor) who escape from a mental hospital. One of them becomes the title character and iconic slasher. The quartet kidnap a young nurse (played by Vanessa Grasse) and take her on a road trip from hell. Along the way, they are pursued by an equally deranged lawman (Stephen Dorff) out for revenge.

In addition to those listed, The Conjuring’s Lili Taylor is also on board to play Mother Sawyer.
