Following on from last month’s news that Bella Donna Boudreaux was to be the female lead of 20th Century Fox’s upcoming Gambit, now comes further word on who looks set to nab the role.

The last we’d heard on this news, it seemed that there was a three-way race to play Bella. Those in the equation were SPECTRE’s Lea Seydoux, Mad Max: Fury Road’s Abbey Lee and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’s Rebecca Ferguson. Deadline is reporting that the role is now seemingly Seydoux’s if she wants it, with Fox apparently having offered her the gig.

As for the character herself, Bella first appeared back in 1992’s X-Men Vol.2 #8. A love interest of sorts for Remy LaBeau, things of course went pear-shaped between the pair. The duo came together as part of an arranged marriage involving the New Orleans Assassins’ Guild. Gambit ended up taking off, leaving Bella behind to develop her own plasma-based powers.

To be directed by Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ Rupert Wyatt and starring Channing Tatum in the titular role, Gambit is currently set for an October 7th, 2016 release.
