Make no mistake about it, DOCTOR WHO is very much a British institution. That said, the show has been making its presence known in the USA over the last few years. And on that note, it’s been announced by BBC America that the last season of the show was the most successful one in the US to date.

As well as finishing 2014 with its highest-rated season ever, the Nick Frost-starring LAST CHRISTMAS festive special brought in over 2.3 million viewers and was the top non-sports telecast in all of cable amongst adults aged 25 to 54 years of age. In terms of the season itself, Peter Capaldi’s first run as the Doctor averaged 2.035 million viewers per episode.

DOCTOR WHO returns later this year in both the UK and the US for the ninth season since it relaunched in 2005.
