With Trick ‘r Treat’s Michael Dougherty recently brought in to direct, Godzilla: King of the Monsters has now moved to bring in another new cast addition.

As reported by Variety, Kyle Chandler has joined the sequel to Gareth Edwards’ 2014 Godzilla. The Super 8 and Manchester by the Sea actor will play the father of Stranger Things‘ Millie Bobby Brown’s character in the film. No other cast members have been confirmed at this stage, although it’s believed that Ken Watanabe will reprise his role from the first film. As for the monsters involved, Legendary Pictures previously announced Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah to join Big G for the sequel.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be a part of the shared universe that began with Edwards’ 2014 movie and will continue with next month’s Kong: Skull Island. Following King of the Monsters’ March 2019 release will be the huge crossover movie, Godzilla vs Kong, in May 2020.
