One of the biggest hits of last year was David Sandberg’s Kung Fury, with the film becoming an instant cult classic and favourite of many a genre fan. Well, director Sandberg has now revealed that a sequel is in the works.

The Kickstarter-funded Kung Fury proved a huge success with fans and critics alike, with its mish-mash of ‘80s staples winning over anyone who saw the film. In fact, the movie has even topped 25 million views on YouTube. As such, a sequel was always a possibility, and now that possibility is a reality.

Sandberg took to his Instagram page with the following:

Accompanying the image was the caption: “Today, Kung Fury turns 1… Today, the future is written… Stay tuned #happykungfuryday”

There’s no details known on Kung Fury II at this stage, and it remains to be seen whether Sandberg will opt to go the crowdfunding route again.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
