Jessica Jones star and Breaking Bad alumna Krysten Ritter will star in and executive produce Orphan Black: Echoes, the upcoming Orphan Black spinoff series announced earlier this year.

Orphan Black: Echoes takes place in the near future, set in the same world as the 2013 sci-fi thriller series starring Tatiana Maslany, and deeply explores the scientific manipulation of human existence. Per the logline, it follows a group of women (one of whom is played by Ritter) as they weave their way into each other’s lives and embark on a thrilling journey, unravelling the mystery of their identity and uncovering a wrenching story of love and betrayal.

We know next to nothing about Ritter’s character, other than her name is Lucy and that she’s described as “a woman with an unimaginable origin story”. Krysten Ritter is the first to be cast for the AMC series, but stay tuned for further announcements as they come.

Pieces of Her‘s Anna Fishko is on board as creator, writer, showrunner and executive producer of Orphan Black: Echoes alongside John Fawcett, co-creator of the original series, as director and executive producer. The first season will comprise ten episodes and is due to premiere sometime in 2023.
