Inventive literature award The Kitschies have added a new category to their roster. The Invisible Tentacle will be awarded to progressive, intelligent and entertaining fiction that is natively digital.

The award will be sponsored by the critically acclaimed FALLEN LONDON, the award winning browser-based game produced by Failbetter Games. FALLEN LONDON is a narrative driven online game that places the focus on story rather than pestering your mates on Facebook.

Alexis Kennedy, the Chief Narrative Office of Failbetter Games, said: “The values of The Kitschies are exactly our values – they stand for everything we appreciate and everything we want to promote. Particularly tentacles.”

The Kitschie’s are given annually to books that fulfil the criteria of being progressive, intelligent as well as entertaining. They must also contain speculative and or fantastic elements. The award is well regarded by both the mainstream and independent aspects of the publishing industry and is judged by a panel of peers. The award prize includes a hand crafted Tentacle Trophy.

In addition to the Invisible Tentacle, other awards include the Red Tentacle for the novel that best fits the Kitschie’s criteria, the Golden Tentacle for debut work, the Inky Tentacle for best cover and the Black Tentacle for outstanding individuals.

You can submit potential work for these awards via their website The Kitschies.
