Ever since the release of Quentin Tarantino’s martial-arts/hyper-real/scarlet-infused/homage piece KILL BILL, the most passionate of fans have been praying for a VOLUME 1 and VOLUME 2 combination. The large and relentless opposition to the Weinsteins’ decision of a split phenomenon has once again brought forth the question of whether the fabled 4-hour cut of the masterpiece (subtitled THE WHOLE BLOODY AFFAIR) will be available to the masses.

When speaking at the Dynamite Entertainment panel within this years Comic-Con, the director discussed the status of this cut:

What’s going on with that is originally back when KILL BILL was going to be one movie, I wrote an even longer anime sequence. However, told us that they couldn’t complete it in time for our release, plus you can’t have a thirty-minute piece in your movie! I said okay. So we dropped it and then later when the company heard we were talking about doing KILL BILL: THE WHOLE BLOODY AFFAIR, they still had the script and without even being commissioned, they just paid for it themselves and did it. It’s really terrific. Anyway, The Weinstein Company and myself were talking about actually coming out with it sometime, not before the end of the year, but within the next 12 months with limited theatrical engagement as well.”

So as you can see, Tarantino seems almost ready to unleash The Bride in her most fluid capacity and even the Weinsteins appear interested. Expect the grand yellow prize + extra fresh anime to be confirmed for release in the next few weeks/months. Good things come to those who wait!

Additionally, the man himself also stated that his controversy-magnet THE HATEFUL EIGHT is to be created for the cinema and not just shelved, as was the plan not so long ago. The special reading that the director hosted earlier this year included the likes of Tim Roth, Kurt Russell, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Amber Tamblyn and of course Samuel L. Jackson. It would be wise to assume that at least a percentage of this superhuman group will become embroiled in Tarantino’s second onscreen Western.
