Earlier this month saw a report surface that said three names were in the frame to play the female lead in Warner Brothers’ The Flash, and we now know just who’s landed that particular gig.

At the time, Dope’s Kiersey Clemons, Sing Street’s Lucy Boynton and 50 Shades of Grey’s Rita Ora were the names believed to be in the frame, with Clemons the early favourite due to having worked with The Flash director Rick Famuyiwa on the aforementioned Dope. Well, the early favourite is indeed the one to get the nod as it’s Kiersey Clemons who will be playing the female lead of Iris West in the Scarlet Speedster-centric movie.

Iris has long been a key part of comic book Flash lore, with her progressing from simple love interest to actually becoming the wife of Barry Allen. Where live-action is concerned, she’s currently also played by Candice Patton in The CW’s Grant Gustin-starring The Flash.

On the big screen, the Sultan of Speed is played by We Need to Talk About Kevin’s Ezra Miller, who debuted as Barry Allen in this year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Miller’s Flash will be a vital part of Zack Snyder’s upcoming Justice League, and it may well be that Iris actually has a small role in that film too.

Justice League is currently set for a November 2017 release, with no finalized date yet revealed for The Flash, although it’s believed that the film should land in early 2018.

In case you missed it, the recent Justice League teaser that dropped at San Diego Comic-Con (and which featured plenty of Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen) can be found below:
