Multi-hyphenate Kevin Smith is bringing back his iconic comedy duo to lead a third live-action movie, he revealed in an interview with PopCulture. Jay and Silent Bob, in which Smith co-stars alongside Jason Mewes, have appeared in every instalments of Smith’s so-called ‘View Askewniverse’ series.

“Right now as we speak, I’m writing another Jay and Silent Bob movie,” Kevin Smith said in the piece. “For me and Jay, we always kind of have fun doing those and stuff, so I lost a bet with him. And so I’m writing another Jay and Bob movie.”

The duo first appeared in the 1994 film Clerks, which was Smith’s directorial debut. They were introduced as drug dealers who did business outside of Quick Stop and RST Video. Jay and Silent Bob would then star in Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks II, Jay & Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie!, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot and Clerks III, which was released just last year. The characters have also appeared in multiple television shows, video games, comic books and music videos.

There’s no information on the upcoming film beyond that, but stay tuned for more information as we hear it.
