Much like 2012’s Dredd, it seems that barely a month goes by where there isn’t some sort of rumbling over another Blade movie…

On that front, New York Comic Con has seen the Daywalker again being a hot topic, largely fueled by Kate Beckinsale. During a Q&A session, the Underworld actress was asked about ever having an Underworld/Blade crossover, to which she replied, “No. We had that idea. No. They’re busy. They’re doing something with Blade.”

Of course, that instantly set tongues wagging that Marvel Studios were doing something with their Blade property. Sadly, that appears to not be the case.

Following Beckinsale’s comments, Marvel’s Kevin Feige clarified, “They’d did ask a long time ago and I think our answer was ‘No, we’ll do something with Blade at some point.’ That’s still the answer. We still think he’s a great character. He’s a really fun character. We think this movie going into a different side of the universe would have the potential to have him pop up, but between the movies, the Netflix shows, the ABC shows, there are so many opportunities for the character to pop up. As you’re now seeing with Ghost Rider on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that rather than team up with another studio on that character, let’s do something on our own. What that is? Where that will be? We’ll see. There is nothing imminent to my knowledge.”

So, that’s nothing definite on just what will be next – if anything – for the Blade character, although this is surely enough to give fans of the Daywalker enough hope to cling on to that he’ll be appearing once more somewhere, somehow.

Previously, there has been rumours of both another Blade movie or a TV series, with Wesley Snipes regularly championing the prospect of a return to a role that he played for three movies up until 2004’s Blade: Trinity.
