After recent speculation, it’s now been confirmed that Kaya Scoderlario has landed the female lead in PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES. The actress is best known for roles in THE MAZE RUNNER and SKINS.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer took to Twitter to reveal the news, saying “Pleased to announce that we cast Kaya Scoderlario for the 5th Pirates of the Caribbean. Talented young actor from Skins & The Maze Runner.”

The film itself will begin production next month in Queensland, Australia. Johnny Depp will be back as Captain Jack Sparrow, with Geoffrey Rush returning as Captain Barbossa. Javier Bardem will be playing the villain of the piece, Captain Brand, with Brenton Thwaites playing a British soldier named Henry. Scodelario’s character will be the love interest of Thwaite’s Henry. There’s also plenty of rumours out there that Orlando Bloom will return as Will Turner.

To be directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES is currently set for a July 7th, 2017 release.
