With the big screen adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower now in production, the film has brought in Katheryn Winnick.

Variety is reporting that the 38-year-old Canadian actress, best known for her turn in Vikings, has landed a mystery role in the film.

Winnick joins a cast that currently includes Idris Elba as Roland Deschain/The Gunslinger, Matthew McConaughey as Randall Flag/The Man in Black, Fran Kranz as Pimli, Abbey Lee as Tirana, and Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers.

The basic premise of King’s The Dark Tower, which encompasses eight novels and even ties-in with other books, follows The Gunslinger on his quest towards a mysterious tower in a world gone to hell. As well as a big screen movie, there’s also a tie-in TV series in development as well.

To be directed by Nikolaj Arcel, The Dark Tower is currently set for a January 13th, 2017 release.
