Ridley Scott’s upcoming Alien: Covenant has added its first new cast member.

Deadline reports that Steve Jobs and Inherent Vice’s Katherine Waterston has signed on for the lead role of “Daniels” in the film. She joins a cast that’s currently made up of the returning pair of Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace.

From what Scott has said previously, Covenant will be the second part of a prequel trilogy (which began with Prometheus) that will connect to the director’s legendary 1979 Alien. Fassbender’s synthetic David will have a large role to play, but Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw is only expected to appear in a small role.

Plot-wise, this latest film will centre on a colony ship called Covenant. The crew come across what they believe to be an uncharted paradise, but it’s soon apparent that they’re embarking on a dark and dangerous mission. Director Scott has already previously confirmed that we’ll get to see plenty of forms of the franchise’s familiar Xenemorph.

Set to start production in February, Alien: Covenant is currently set for an October 6th, 2017 release.
