With James Cameron currently working away on his four Avatar sequels, the franchise has brought in a big name to join its ranks.

Speaking to Deadline, Cameron revealed that Kate Winslet has joined the series. As he explained, “Kate and I have been looking for something to do together for 20 years, since our collaboration on Titanic, which was one of the most rewarding of my career. I can’t wait to see her bring the character of Ronal to life.”

Who’s Ronal? At this stage, we have absolutely no idea.

Winslet joins a cast that includes the returning Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Joel David Moore, Matt Gerald, Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang, and fellow new additions in the shape of Cliff Curtis, Jack Champion and Oona Chaplin.

At present, Avatar 2 is set for a December 2020 release, Avatar 3 for December 2021, Avatar 4 for December 2024 and Avatar 5 for December 2025. And no, we still don’t have any idea why there’s any need for four sequels either.
