To anyone who’s ever watched a slasher film, you’ll be more than familiar with shouting at the dumb teens onscreen for the silly decisions that often leave them gored, maimed and decapitated. Now the tables have turned with Gun Media’s upcoming slasher video game. Mixing up the horror subgenre with interactive storytelling seems like a masterstroke, so why has it taken this long?

Nevertheless, the ‘80s-themed throwback, titled SLASHER VOL 1: SUMMER CAMP, has found its masked maniac in the form of long-time Jason Voorhees actor Kane Hodder, joining FX mastero Tom Savini. Wes Keltner, co-creator of SUMMER CAMP, explained, “Honestly, who else could we have chosen for the role of the killer? Several people have worn the mask, but in our eyes, there was only one. Kane has the body type, the presence and demeanour that personify the unrelenting, undying killing force we’re after for SUMMER CAMP.”

There may be a slew of slasher-themed games due for release, but SUMMER CAMP looks set to be one of the more promising titles. All that remains is to kill, kill, kill…
