Well, this is certainly an interesting development. Yes, as the title suggests, Judy Greer is indeed in talks to join the upcoming Halloween “reinvention”.

As per Deadline, the Jurassic World actress is in negotiations to join the already-announced Jamie Lee Curtis in the David Gordon Green-helmed relaunch for this beloved horror franchise. But the real kicker? The role lined up for Greer is Karen, the daughter of Curtis’ Laurie Strode.

The last we’d heard about this new Halloween entry is that it will seemingly ignore the events of anything post-Halloween II – which we’d presume means Laurie’s son John, as played by Josh Hartnett in Halloween: H20. Given that Laurie was killed off by the infamous Shape in Halloween: Resurrection’s opening moments, clearly that film is being wiped out of this current canon due to Curtis returning as this iconic character. Similarly, it’s believed that the narrative of this new film will completely ignore any of the movies that have happened since 1981’s Halloween II.

The early word on this new film reads:

Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

As well as David Gordon Green on directing duties, he’s also penned the screenplay with Danny McBride. Jason Blum is producing through his Blumhouse banner, with the legendary John Carpenter on board as an executive producer. Shooting on this still-to-be-titled Halloween effort is set to start in South Carolina in just a matter of weeks.

The return of Michael Myers is currently booked in for an October 19th, 2018 release.
