Jude Law will soon be heading to a galaxy far, far away in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, as was announced at Star Wars Celebration last night.

The series is being developed by Spider-Man trilogy director Jon Watts and writer Christopher Ford, with (as usual) Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni executive producing. News of Law’s starring role was accompanied by the series’ title reveal; previously code-named Grammar Rodeo, the Disney+ series will be titled Skeleton Crew.

The story is set in the New Republic era (post-Return of the Jedi and roughly in the same period as The Mandalorian), and follows a group of four young kids lost in the Star Wars galaxy, trying to find their way home. The tone of the series has been likened to that of a classic Amblin coming-of-age adventure film of the 1980s. Who Jude Law might be playing is still being kept top secret.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is due to begin filming this summer though it does not, as of yet, have a release date. In any case, it will be preceded by The Mandalorian‘s third season kicking off February 2023, followed by Ahsoka. In other related news, check out our interview with Obi-Wan Kenobi helmer Deborah Chow here, and don’t miss the brand-new teaser trailer for Andor here.
