Several sources are suggesting the Isaac Asimov’s FOUNDATION SERIES will be coming to HBO in a joint production with Warner Bros. The series is being written and produced by INTERSTELLAR co-writer Jonah Nolan.

Official confirmation is still pending but it is known that HBO acquired the rights to the FOUNDATION SERIES this summer after Sony failed to develop anything from it, having been working on various ideas since 2009. Jonah Nolan is already working with HBO on a big budget pilot for WESTWORLD starring Anthony Hopkins.

Isaac Asimov wrote the FOUNDATION SERIES (FOUNDATION, FOUNDATION AND EMPIRE, SECOND FOUNDATION) in the 1940s and ‘50s and went on to win a Hugo for best all-time series in 1966, and Asimov went on to write several sequels (then prequels) in the 1980s and ‘90s. These would eventually tie much of his work (including the ROBOT stories) into a massive interconnected whole. For many fans the FOUNDATION series is the most important contribution Asimov made to science-fiction and has been cited as an influence on many people and even the creation of Wikipedia!

STARBURST will, of course, bring you further details as they emerge.
