Marvel Studios’ Black Panther looks to be close to finally landing a writer.

The Wrap has word that Amber Lake’s Joe Robert Cole is currently in talks to pen the movie’s script. This isn’t the first time that Cole and Marvel have worked together, as he had previously penned a draft for the upcoming Inhumans movie.

As for Black Panther, Mark Bailey has previously written a draft for the film, although it remains to be seen whether Cole does a bit of a rework or simply starts from scratch.

In terms of what we know so far about the film, Chadwick Boseman will be starring as the titular hero, with him first making his MCU debut in May’s Captain America: Civil War. Villain-wise, it’s believed that Andy Serkis’ Ulysses Klaw, a rogue who popped up in Avengers: Age of Ultron, will be the ‘big bad’ of Black Panther.

Despite being linked with Ava DuVernay and F. Gary Gray, the film has yet to find a director.

At present, Black Panther is set for a July 6th, 2018 release.
