As Star Trek Beyond gets ready to hit cinemas later this week, J.J. Abrams has already been posed questions about a fourth film in this relaunched Star Trek franchise.

Speaking to Den of Geek during the press tour for Star Trek Beyond, Abrams confirmed that a fourth entry in the new franchise is seemingly a given, enthusing, “Yes, and there’s something that hopefully we’re figurative minutes away from talking about. But the answer is 100% yes, and it’s incredibly exciting.” Additionally, it’s also been revealed that Chris Hemsworth will be a part of this fourth film, with him reprising the role of George Kirk, the father of Chris Pine’s James T. Kirk.

Having directed Star Trek and Star Trek Beyond, Abrams has served as a producer on Star Trek Beyond due to his schedule being taken up by a certain galaxy far, far away adventure known as The Force Awakens.

There’s obviously no other details whatsoever on Star Trek 4 right now, but at least we know that it will be happening.

Star Trek Beyond is in UK cinemas this coming Friday.
