After regular speculation of the character making an appearance at some point, AMC’s The Walking Dead has finally cast uber-villain Negan.

The Hollywood Reporter has word that Watchmen’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been cast as the rogue, which sounds like an awesome piece of casting to us. In the comic book world, Negan is an extremely violent character who is often accompanied by Lucille. Who’s Lucille, some of you may ask? Well that’s his barbed wire-covered baseball bat that he uses on both walkers and humans.

For fear of spoilers, we’ll keep it brief, but the arrival of Negan in the show will have comic book fans instantly pondering whether something similar to The Walking Dead #100 will happen in the show.

It’s being reported that Morgan’s Negan will make his debut in the final episode of the current Season 6 before going on to become a series regular in Season 7. Additionally, it’s believed that Timothy Olyphant, Matt Dillon and Garrett Dillahunt also tested for the role.
